Why I'm Running
A new generation of leadership for South Florida.
My name is Kendrick Meek, and I'm running for Congress because I believe working people in South Florida deserve a fighter in Washington who understands what they're going through and is willing to do something about it.
I grew up watching public service firsthand. As the grandson of the late Congresswoman Carrie Meek and the son of former Congressman Kendrick Meek, I saw what it looked like when leaders put people before politics. My family spent decades fighting for economic opportunity, educational access, voting rights, and stronger communities throughout South Florida. Those values shaped who I am, and they continue to guide me today.
But this campaign is not about my family's legacy. It's about the challenges families are facing right now.
Across our community, people are working harder than ever and still falling behind. Every trip to the grocery store costs more than it did just a few years ago. Rent is rising faster than wages. Homeownership feels out of reach for too many families. Childcare costs are overwhelming. Healthcare expenses continue to strain household budgets. Too many people are doing everything right and still struggling to make ends meet.
At the same time, many people feel like Washington isn't listening. Instead of focusing on lowering costs and improving people's lives, too many politicians spend their time chasing headlines, engaging in political fights, and putting partisan interests ahead of the people they were elected to serve.
That's why I'm running.
I'm running because I believe Congress should be focused on helping working families afford the basics: a safe place to live, quality healthcare, good schools, reliable transportation, and the opportunity to build a better future.
I'm running because I believe every child deserves a fair shot, every senior deserves dignity and security, and every worker deserves the chance to get ahead.
I'm running because South Florida needs a new generation of leadership that understands the urgency of this moment and is prepared to fight for solutions instead of excuses.
As your Congressman, I will focus on making life more affordable. I'll fight to expand affordable housing, strengthen programs that help families put food on the table, protect access to healthcare, restore and expand the Child Tax Credit, and make college, trade schools, and workforce training more accessible and affordable.
I'll also fight for immigration policies that reflect both our values and our realities—policies that treat people with dignity, keep families together, and create a fair and practical pathway forward.
Most importantly, I'll never lose sight of who this job is supposed to serve.
Over the course of this campaign, you'll find me where I've always been: in our neighborhoods, community events, small businesses, barber shops, and on front porches listening to the people I hope to represent.
Because the answers aren't found in Washington. They're found right here in our communities.
I love South Florida. I believe in our people. And I believe that together we can build an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top.
That's why I'm running for Congress.
Not for a title. Not for power.
I'm running to fight for the people of Florida's 24th Congressional District and to help build a future where every family has the opportunity not just to survive, but to thrive.
