Kendrick Meek is a 29-year-old Miami attorney, advocate, and public policy professional carrying forward a powerful family legacy of public service.
As the grandson of the late Congresswoman Carrie Meek and the son of former Congressman Kendrick Meek, he has watched his family spend decades fighting for economic justice, educational opportunity, voting rights, and opportunity for South Florida families. Congresswoman Carrie Meek made history as the first Black Floridian elected to Congress since Reconstruction and became a tireless champion for Miami-Dade communities, helping expand access to housing, education, healthcare, and economic opportunity.
The son of former Congressman Kendrick Meek and Judge Leslie Meek, Kendrick grew up in South Florida, where he has been deeply connected to the community that shaped his family. He is also proud of his Jamaican heritage through his mother's side of the family, reflecting the rich Caribbean traditions and immigrant experiences that are an essential part of South Florida's story.
Today, Kendrick practices law in South Florida, helping communities navigate growth and economic development through his work in land use, zoning, and real estate development. Before returning home to Florida, he served in Washington, D.C., at the Office of Management and Budget in the Executive Office of the President and on the U.S. House Judiciary Committee, where he worked on policy issues affecting communities across the country.
Throughout his career, Kendrick has been committed to expanding opportunity and protecting civil rights. He has worked with organizations including the Human Rights Campaign and the American Civil Liberties Union and currently serves on the board of SAVE, advocacy organization in Florida. As a Men for Choice Fellow, he has also worked alongside advocates and community leaders to support reproductive freedom and access to healthcare.
Kendrick earned his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law and his bachelor's degree, cum laude, from the University of Florida. He has also volunteered with expungement clinics, civic organizations, and community initiatives dedicated to advancing justice and strengthening neighborhoods across South Florida.
Inspired by the example of his parents and grandparents, Kendrick believes public service is about creating opportunity, protecting fundamental rights, and ensuring that every family has a fair shot at success. He remains committed to building a South Florida where working families can thrive, communities are safe and affordable, and every voice is heard.
