Longtime Radio Pioneer and Executive Jerry Rushin Endorses Kendrick Meek for Congress

Today, longtime South Florida radio personality and executive Jerry Rushin officially endorsed Kendrick Meek for Congress in Florida’s 24th Congressional District, citing Meek’s readiness to lead on Day One and his commitment to bringing bold, new leadership to the community.

“Kendrick Meek is ready to deliver for South Florida on Day One, and he won’t make our community wait,” Jerry Rushin said. “I have known the Meek family for decades, and I have seen firsthand what true leadership looks like. For too long, career politicians have made promises they couldn’t keep and failed to deliver real results for our neighborhoods. It is time for a bold, new leadership that actually puts the people first. Kendrick has the integrity, the vision, and the deep roots in this community to get the job done, and I am proud to give him my endorsement.”

Jerry Rushin is a legendary radio personality and executive who broke barriers as the first African American to operate a radio station in South Florida. Throughout his illustrious career, he served as a longtime radio host, program director, and executive at WEDR (99 Jamz). Rushin was later promoted to Vice President and Market Manager for Cox Media Group’s South Florida cluster, overseeing major stations including WHQT (Hot 105), WFEZ, WFLC, and WEDR. In recognition of his massive impact on the industry and the community, Rushin was inducted into the National Black Radio Hall of Fame in 2022.
