Civil Rights Champion and Longtime Educator Dr. Adora Obi Nweze Endorses Kendrick Meek for Congress
Nweze: ‘Kendrick has the proven experience, deep roots, and trusted leadership we need to protect our freedoms and uplift South Florida families’
Miami, FL
Today, civil rights icon, veteran educator and community advocate Dr. Adora Obi Nweze endorsed Kendrick Meek for Congress in Florida's 24th Congressional district.
“As someone who has spent decades on the front lines fighting for equity, justice, and community empowerment, I know leadership when I see it,” Dr. Adora Obi Nweze said. “That is why I am proud to endorse Kendrick Meek. At a time when ensuring strong Black and minority representation is absolutely critical, we need a leader who understands the weight of that responsibility. The Meek family has been an unyielding pillar of strength for South Florida, anchoring the generational fight to build, protect, and advance Black political power in our community. Having watched Kendrick grow as a leader, I know his character, his competence, and his absolute dedication to our people. Kendrick is the only candidate in this race with direct federal legislative experience and experience working in the White House. Kendrick has the proven experience, deep roots, and trusted leadership we need to protect our democracy and uplift South Florida families.”
Dr. Nweze is a prominent civil rights leader who previously served as the long-time president of the most prominent statewide civil rights organization, dedicating her life to voting rights, criminal justice reform, and educational equity. A former educator and administrator, she has spent decades organizing and advocating to ensure that marginalized communities have a powerful voice and a seat at the table.
“I am deeply proud to have the endorsement of Dr. Adora Obi Nweze, a legendary champion for civil rights whose fierce advocacy has shaped a fairer, more just Florida,” Kendrick said. “Her lifelong dedication to equality and community empowerment inspires everything I do, and I look forward to working alongside her to deliver real progress for the people of the 24th district.”
